Spiritual Coaching for Life’s Challenges
- Who am I?
- My beliefs – Are they mine or what I have been told?
- My dreams or what was expected of me?
- What is my purpose in life?
- How would I define my relationship with a Higher Power/Higher Source?
The first seven years of our life we are told such life defining fundamentals/basics as: what to believe, what behavior is acceptable, how to have a relationship with a Higher Power/Higher Source or no relationship at all, and to make something of ourselves that matters in the eyes of Society.
Oftentimes it is only later in life that we start to question our belief system and if our career really serves our purpose in life? It is important to our self-esteem to be accepted by our peers, included in social events (even when the event is not important to us), and loved by our family. In today’s world, we are learning to accept each other with a greater understanding of differences. This often leaves our old belief system inappropriate even challenges us to search for a greater understanding for this time in our life.
What chance does one have to engage in a spiritual dialogue with the freedom to explore one’s own thoughts without judgment? Can a spiritual dialogue enable one to find a life of fulfillment with love, joy, and connected to a Higher Power/Higher Spirit?
Regardless of one’s lifestyle, background, the Higher Power is always available to give love and joy if one opens their hearts to let go of the old behavior, anger, shame, even beliefs taught when a child.
I was in my forties when I asked myself, “Is this all there is in life?” Somehow, I instinctively knew the REAL beliefs lay within me and my Higher Self. Yet, I also knew that the beliefs I was raised with was not going to be the ones I wanted to continue to live with the rest of my life. It was then that I began searching for other answers meaningful to me! I was fortunate to spend two years studying Native American Spirituality while exploring spirituality in general. During this time, I had the opportunity to write and execute a rehabilitation program for non-violent women offenders. For one year I offered spiritual coaching for women that included phone conversations and workshops given once a month. Yet, this service to others did not satisfy what I was seeking! It was then that I chose to take a six-month sabbatical. I left my hometown area to live in a 8’x 16′ basement space offered to me by a medicine woman. There was no TV only an eight foot table that held a stereo with enough space to journal, and a bed in a corner with a large window looking out into the Great Smokey Mountains. This kind gift gave me plenty of time to clear my head and realize what was important to me in this lifetime. Surprisingly, under these semi-secluded conditions I found myself truly ready to embark on a quest to identify my future.
Today, I live in faith. protected and nestled among the canopy of trees surrounding my destined home in the mountains of West Virginia. I live my life with a greater connection between my own spirit within and the One Creator of All, the God Source, and dedicating myself to assisting others with their own spiritual awakening and pursuing their own life’s purpose. Whether beginning or ending a journey, it will be my honor to walk with those seeking their spiritual truth and life’s purpose.
